How is this different from the Eclipse Waist Chain?

Both are link chains. Eclipse is a plain alternating oval-and-round chain with nothing hanging from it. This one has chunkier links and a single drop detail, so it reads bolder and less minimal.

Where should the drop hang?

Wherever you want it. The chain moves freely, so set the drop at the front or to one side once you are dressed.
