The Ethereal Butterfly Duolet is one piece worn two ways — as an upper arm cuff, or as an ankle cuff. A butterfly centrepiece with smaller butterfly accents and cascading chains that move as you do, in gold-tone and silver-tone.

What is a Duolet?

A Duolet is a ReevaTara piece designed to be worn in two places rather than one. The Ethereal Butterfly Duolet is worn as an upper arm cuff or as an ankle cuff — the same piece, repositioned. It is not two products packaged together and it is not a set. It is one piece with two placements, which is why a Duolet costs what a single piece costs.

Most jewellery is bought for one spot on the body and worn there until it is put away. A Duolet is bought once and worn in two.

Way one — worn as an upper arm cuff

Worn high on the upper arm, the butterfly sits forward and the chains fall along the outside of the arm. Worn lower, just above the elbow, it reads softer and closer to a traditional armlet.

Either way it needs a sleeveless, cap-sleeve, off-shoulder or halter shape to be seen — a set-in sleeve covers it completely. A sleeveless saree blouse is the strongest pairing in this range. Keep the rest of that arm clear; an arm cuff and a stack of bangles on the same arm compete with each other.

Way two — worn as an ankle cuff

Moved to the ankle, the cascading chains catch the light when you walk. It works with cropped jeans, sliders and sandals, with a kaftan or cover-up, or under a saree worn with heels.

It has to be visible to do any work. Under boots or full-length trousers, an ankle piece is a wasted one.

How to style it

  • Mehendi or haldi — on the upper arm, where hands and arms are already the focus of the day.
  • Sangeet or a reception — on the upper arm with a sleeveless blouse or a gown, with the other arm left bare.
  • Sleeveless saree blouse or lehenga choli — on the upper arm, as a modern bajuband (upper-arm band).
  • Off-shoulder dress or a gown — on the upper arm, with minimal jewellery elsewhere so the chains read clearly.
  • Cropped jeans and sliders — on the ankle, worn on its own.
  • Kaftan or resort dressing — on the ankle, where it finishes the look without adding weight.

The butterfly is the detail here, so let it be the one thing doing the talking. Keep earrings and neckpieces quiet.

Sizing and fit

With body jewellery the useful question is not what size you are — it is where you would like the piece to sit. Decide the placement first: high on the upper arm, lower near the elbow, or at the ankle. For the exact measurement of this piece, email care@reevatara.com before you order and we will confirm it for you.

Care

  • Wipe with a soft dry cloth after wear.
  • Keep away from perfume, lotion, hairspray and water.
  • Store each piece separately and dry, so the chains cannot tangle.
  • Last thing on, first thing off — after clothes, perfume and skincare.

Plated fashion jewellery changes finish over time with wear, storage, moisture and skin chemistry. This is normal rather than a fault, and how long it holds depends on how it is worn and stored.

What is a Duolet?

A Duolet is a ReevaTara piece designed to be worn in two places rather than one. The Ethereal Butterfly Duolet is worn as an upper arm cuff or as an ankle cuff — one piece, two placements, not two products.

Is this a set? Do I get two pieces?

No. It is a single piece, sold on its own. It is not a pair and it is not a set — the same piece moves between the upper arm and the ankle.

Can a butterfly arm cuff really be worn as an anklet too?

Yes. Both placements are what it is designed for. Most customers settle into one they wear more often, but the piece works in either.

Where on the arm should an arm cuff sit?

Either high on the upper arm near the shoulder, or lower down just above the elbow. High reads structured and editorial; lower reads softer and closer to a traditional armlet. Neither is more correct — decide which look you want before you put it on.

What is the Ethereal Butterfly Duolet made of?

Alloy-based fashion jewellery with a protective plating, in a gold-tone or silver-tone finish. This is fashion jewellery, not fine jewellery — it is not gold or silver, and ReevaTara does not describe it as either.

Is it heavy to wear?

It weighs 18 g. On the upper arm or at the ankle that is light enough to wear through an evening without adjusting it.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

Alloy-based fashion jewellery. We have not had skin-reaction complaints on this range. If you have sensitive skin, wear it for a short period first.

What should I wear a butterfly arm cuff with?

Anything sleeveless, cap-sleeve, off-shoulder or halter — the shape has to leave the upper arm visible. A sleeveless saree blouse, a gown or an off-shoulder dress all work. A set-in or full sleeve hides it entirely.

Is this suitable for a mehendi or a sangeet?

Yes, and mehendi is where it works hardest. Hands and arms are already the focus of that day, so an arm cuff sits exactly where people are looking. For a sangeet, wear it on the upper arm with a sleeveless blouse and keep the other arm bare.

Can I wear this with a saree or a lehenga?

Yes. On the upper arm with a sleeveless blouse it works as a modern bajuband — one contemporary piece inside traditional dressing. At the ankle, the chains catch the light under a saree hem worn with heels.

Will the cascading chains tangle?

They can if the piece is dropped loose into a jewellery box. Store it flat and on its own in a dry pouch or box, and lay it flat rather than bunching it when you travel.

Can I wear it to the office or on a video call?

Honestly, not really. Neither placement suits most workplaces, and on a video call only the top third of you is in frame, so an arm cuff under a sleeve and an ankle cuff are both invisible. For work, a brooch or an ear cuff does more.

Can I wear it to the beach or in the pool?

It suits resort and beach dressing at the ankle, but take it off before going into water. Prolonged moisture, chlorine and salt all shorten the life of the plating.

Will it tarnish?

All plated fashion jewellery changes finish over time — that is the nature of plating rather than a defect. Keep it away from perfume, lotion and water, wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wear and store it dry and separately, and it will hold its finish for a long time. We do not promise a fixed lifespan, because it genuinely varies.

Is it a good gift?

It is one of the more forgiving pieces to give, because it is not tied to one spot — the recipient chooses whether to wear it on the arm or the ankle. Mention both placements when you give it, so she knows straight away that it does two things.
